In recent years plant-derived molecules have received particular attention due to several pharmacological effects and properties. Despite the beneficial therapeutic effects, pharmacokinetic properties are less favorable, since the compounds have low water solubility, poor bioavailability, are chemically unstable, being rapidly and extensively metabolized and excreted. For this reason, the purpose of the project is the design and optimization of site-specific drug delivery systems that protect these molecules during the transit inside the organism, while enhancing their solubility and bioavailability after administration.
