Introduction
After an Engineering degree in Biological Engineering at AgroParisTech, I received my PhD in July 2020 at the LCPI Laboratory, ENSAM. My research currently focuses on Engineering Design surrounding the practice of Biomimetics and more specifically the biologists' integration into biomimetic processes.

Although biomimetic design practice becomes more and more common, some methodological aspects
are still under development. More especially, this article aims at dealing with biologist’s role and integration during the design process and its construction. After an introduction of the context and the protocol of our experiment on a case study about t...
The strength of biomimetics comes from its ability to draw from life mechanisms and strategies to design innovative solutions. In spite of recent methodological progresses, more specifically on tools and processes, biomimetics' implementation still faces strong difficulties. Among other things, design teams have a hard time finding and selecting re...
Engineering design, as the science framing the practice of design through the elaboration of tools and processes, is constantly evolving towards new innovative strategies. To thrive in their extremely competitive environment, it appears that both industrial and natural worlds are highly dependent on innovation, optimisation and selection. These com...
In a world where raw materials are becoming scarcer, it appears necessary to adjust our way of developing new products. Indeed, the fundamental question of products’ sustainability, resources’ origin and environmental impact, is more and more important for customers. Moreover, the issue of equitable access to basic products is growing in poor count...

Implementation of biomimetics in practical innovation strategies still faces various impediments. Multidisciplinary communication is one of the most recognized one. Enabling teammates having various cognitive and conceptual frameworks to properly exchange information...
Biomimetics has been a subject of increasing interest but, where it has proven its scientific relevance and innovative potential from a theoretical standpoint, it remains rarely used in practice. Facing this lack of implementation, our work aimed at asking practitioners for their help to better understand the remaining impediments preventing biomim...
Facing current biomimetics impediments, recent studies have supported the integration within biomimetic teams of a new actor having biological knowledge and know-how. This actor is referred to as the "biomimetician" in this article. However, whereas biology is often considered a homogenous whole in the methodological literature targeting biomimetic...
Biomimetics has undergone an increasing development over the last decade. Most of the conducted research relative to its operational practice has focused on the formalization of biomimetic processes and the development of tools adapted to the specificities of biomimetics. Here we adopt a complementary point of view: the analysis of the impact of th...

Biomimetic practice requires a diverse set of knowledge from both biology, and engineering. Several researchers have been supporting the integration of biologists within biomimetic design teams in order to meet those biological requirements and improve the effectiveness of biomimetic processes....

Following the SIG on Bio-Inspired Design at ICED 19, one of the idea that emerged was to start a group to share our questions, good practices or smart examples regarding biomimetics as a teaching subject. Well, here it is.
