According to the requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive (2000/60 / EC) and the Regulation on Monitoring of Surface and Underground Waters (OG No 11.02.2014 / 28910), adequate number of candidate reference area for each type for each biological quality component (phytoplankton, phytobenthos, macrozoobenthos, macrophyte, fish) will be determined in lakes and rivers in Turkey. Selection of final reference monitoring points according to the results obtained in the monitoring studies and establishment of reference monitoring network for our country will be ensured.
