Introduction
I am a Data Scientist, Spatial Analyst and Health Geographer. My recent doctoral research project entailed the innovative use of 'unconventional' datasets and the adaptation of sophisticated methodologies to produce micro-scale geographical findings for Nigeria. These include Automatated Zone Design (AZD) methods, Spatial Microsimulation, Spatial Interaction Modelling, Accessibility Analysis (like the E2SFCA), Location-Allocation Modelling & Multilevel Modelling.

Background
Precise geographical targeting is well recognised as an indispensable intervention strategy for achieving many Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is more cogent for health-related goals such as the reduction of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, which exhibits substantial spatial heterogeneity at various spatial scales (including at microsca...
Well-known zoning problems in spatial analysis include MAUP, ecological fallacy, small numbers problem and gerrymandering. These are more acute in LMICs like Nigeria, wherein extant zoning systems are both dated and likely to be grossly suboptimal because they are products of manual zone design methods. Using automated zone design method, this stud...
This study used GIS to analyse various visitation sequence and routes for tourist sites in Lokoja considering multiple scenarios. This was done with a view to determining the most efficient visitation sequence vis-à-vis the routes for optimizing the overall visiting time and distance for the various scenarios considered. The main datasets used were...
Accessibility of primary healthcare (PHC) services is crucial for maintaining the good health of a population. Not only is health(care) associated with quality of life and socioeconomic productivity, systematic variations in healthcare accessibility are matters of social justice. Consequently, the overall goal of this project is to comprehensively...
The study characterized urban expansion in Lokoja; simulated the pattern of future urban expansion for year 2021 and used a GIS-based multi-criteria evaluation to derive a suitable pattern for sustainable urban expansion in the area. These formed the basis for performing a pairwise spatial comparisons among the derived land suitability map, the exi...
Background
Multimorbidity has become a global public health challenge. Increasing work has identified different individual- and household-level determinants of multimorbidity; however, our understanding of how characteristics of place affect multimorbidity remains limited. This scoping review aims to identify the place-based risk factors of multimo...
Background
Multimorbidity is a growing global public health challenge, commonly referring to the co-occurrence of 2+ conditions but with varying measurements. Prior evidence has linked social cohesion with single health conditions; however, its impact on multimorbidity remains unclear. This study aims to examine the association between area-level s...
The communities that we live in affect our health in ways that are complex and hard to define. Moreover, our understanding of the place-based processes affecting health and inequalities is limited. This undermines the development of robust policy interventions to improve local health and well-being. News media provides social and community informat...
Background
Multimorbidity is one of the greatest challenges facing health and social care systems globally. It is associated with high rates of health service use, adverse healthcare events, and premature death. Despite its importance, little is known about the effects of contextual determinants such as household and area characteristics on health...
Background:
Measurement of multimorbidity in research is variable, including the choice of the data source used to ascertain conditions. We compared the estimated prevalence of multimorbidity and associations with mortality using different data sources.
Methods:
A cross-sectional study of SAIL Databank data including 2,340,027 individuals of all...
Urbanization comes with the price of the negative complexity of crime. It is a reflection of the socio-demographic and permeability factors. This paper aims to integrate socio-demographic crime factors with street permeability to find the association with residential burglary spots. We first find the residential burglary hotspots area related to so...

In Low and Middle Income Countries (#LMICs) like Nigeria, geographic data paucity is a major impediment to using cutting-edge spatial analytics for addressing important human (and socioeconomic) challenges like healthcare planning. To overcome this, spatial microsimulation is used in this presentation to fuse relevant sample survey microdata with a...
Most existing applications of GIS in crime analyses address the problem from a general perspective and often concentrate on the locations of crime incidences. This study is an interesting deviation from that pattern, in that it not only looks at crime as committed by a prime population subset (i.e. young people aged 10 - 17), it was based on the re...
