Introduction
Eero Pukkala is the former Director for Research of the Finnish Cancer Registry, Institute for Statistical and Epidemiological Cancer Research, Helsinki (retired 2019 but still working as a research expert in projects when needed); and Professor of Epidemiology at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tampere. He is author of about 800 peer-reviewed epidemiological publications, including studies on cancer and other health outcomes related to occupational hazards, physical and social environment, and life habits; biological risk factors of cancer; familial clustering of cancer; evaluations of the effects of interventions; studies on factors affecting survival of cancer patients; cancer predictions; cancer atlases; publications on register and biobank data quality; and privacy issues.
