Three specimens (387-436 mm standard length and 1300-1815 g of weight) of the Black driftfish Hyperoglyphe bythites were collected at a depth between 150 to 200 m from south of Veracruz, Mexico. This report represents the first confirmed record of the species in Mexico and the southernmost record of the species.
