Project
An interdisciplinary investigation into the potential of dynamic concept formation, in an attempt to reach deep into the abstract principles governing the generation of meanings (even beyond language). The research project is to promote a novel and ground-breaking approach to the way conceptualisation occurs in the human mind. The principle goal is to identify at least five sets of dynamic underlying SCHEMATIC principles which motivate the construction of concepts across the semiotic modes of LANGUAGE, MUSIC and VISUAL COGNITION. What are the common elements beneath e.g. “the running of”: 1) Physical people (both when perceived and talked about in language); 2) Musical tunes 3) Figures in a painting, 4) Agents in metaphors (“rat race”)?
