Project
The project aims, among other main objectives, to develop and validate a system for monitoring and assessing the health status of seniors that integrates non-invasive motion and physiological wearable sensors for the collection of health parameters, a smart environment with discreet environmental sensors to monitor daily activities and lifestyle, and a cloud platform for data aggregation and storage, including the presentation of results generated by advanced data analysis. Among the most important functionalities provided by the smart environment to be developed within the project in the benefit of senior patients are as follows: 1. Non-invasive monitoring of the current health status in order to define a real elderly profile for presenting the current state of some health parameters (physiological and cognitive); 2. Defining a model for tracking the locomotor decline and fall prevention; 3. Monitoring of current activities and lifestyle; 4. Personal safety supervision; 5. Personalized ambient adaptation to allow controlled use of environmental devices or alarm triggering in the event of an abnormal health parameter or an unforeseen and dangerous event; 6. Supporting the remote assessment of the senior's current health status and early diagnosis by the personal physician; 7. Creating facilities to support the social interactions of the senior; 8. Identifying the most representative ways of taking care of the seniors; 9. Facilitating the senior’s empowerment and involvement in the optimal management of his/her own health. It also aims to provide as outcomes: • Methods, techniques, algorithms and software components for analysis, modeling and prediction; • Methodology for the analysis, modeling and prediction of the evolution of biomedical data in order to assist the decision; • Business model for a system for monitoring and assessing the health of elder people; • Models and tools for assessing health and quality of life in relation to health; • Models and software components for identifying homogeneous groups, to assess the acceptance and utility of disposing devices applied to the care of the elderly;
