Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have recently received attraction for treatment of different wastewaters. AOPs have an ability to oxidize a high quantity of refractory organic matters, traceable organic, or to increase wastewater biodegradability as a pre-treatment prior to an ensuing biological treatment. In this chapter, the fundamental mecha...
Through funding from Forum Syd through ActionAid Sweden, ActionAid Palestine in partnership with Al Aqsa Club are working in the Middle Area of Gaza to strengthen the capacity and organization of five communities in Middle Area to better analyze vulnerabilities, risks and threats, document IHL and develop community-led risk reduction and preparedne...

The objective of this study was to investigate the performance of employing H2O2 reagent in persulfate activation to treat stabilized landfill leachate. A central composite design (CCD) with response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to evaluate the relationships between operating variables, such as persulfate and H2O2 dosages, pH, and reaction...
The current study investigated the effects of S2O8(2-) and S2O8(2-)/H2O2 oxidation processes on the biodegradable characteristics of an anaerobic stabilized leachate. Total COD removal efficiency was found to be 46% after S2O8(2-) oxidation (using 4.2g S2O8(2-)/1g COD0, at pH 7, for 60min reaction time and at 350rpm shaking speed), and improved to...
Because of rapid population growth during the recent decades, and the explicit lifestyle development in many countries around the world, a huge amount of municipal waste is generated daily. Solid waste is considered as one of the most complicated environmental problem in many countries, particularly in the developing countries. Disposal of solid wa...

The study was implemented to test if the sandy shoreline of Gaza city is contaminated with human gastrointestinal parasites or not and to determine the types of intestinal parasites and the extent of contamination. A total of 104 sand samples (52 dry sand and 52 wet sand) were analyzed during the summer season period. Samples were collected from th...
