My research interest focuses on topics related to Environmental Economics and Game Theory, and Consumer Economics. I study firms' green labeling decisions and the emergence of greenwashing in contexts of asymmetric information, and consumer preferences for food, innovation and information. I'm alsoalso interested in rural development issues.
We use choice experiments to investigate heterogeneity in preferences for a refrigerated ready-to-heat meal with an extended shelf life and the processing technology (i.e., microwave-assisted pasteurization) that provides that longevity. On average, an extra day of shelf life decreases the utility associated with purchasing and eating the meal. A s...
In this study, we estimate consumers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for ready meals preserved using microwave assisted pasteurization systems (MAPS)—a novel pasteurization technology, compared to frozen, ready meals. We conducted a laboratory multi-round experimental auction for two samples of ready meal jambalaya in which appearance and sensory evaluat...
A home-use test (HUT) is one method that provides a measure of ecological validity as the product is consumed in home under common daily use circumstances. One product that benefits from being evaluated in-home are ready-to-eat (RTE) meals. This study determined consumer acceptance of microwave-thermally-pasteurized jambalaya, a multi-meat and vege...
A sensory evaluation using a home-use-test (HUT) setting and experimental online auctions at three storage times, were used to elicit willingness to pay (WTP) for two samples of ready meals with extended shelf life, one using microwave assisted pasteurization system (MAPS) and the other using freezing. The effect of the information on the name of a...

The consumer, either exhibiting posit...

Unfortunately, the proliferation of quality assurance schemes is provokinga “labyrinth of labels” which diffuses the local efforts for capitalizing rural specificities. A second-generationof labels is cu...
The need to resolve the conflict of interests between proponents of agricultural competitiveness and advocates of sustainable development led the European Union to implement a new strategy in the nineties. This strategy was called "territorial rural development" and arose as an experiment to secure a future for rural areas in the midst of increasin...
