This checklist summarizes the actual knowledge about vascular plants growing on walls in Albania. The list contains some 229 species. This number contradicts however to the huge number of walls and also to the high number of species in Albania. Therefor this list will first of all encourage further investigations.
Eclipta prostata native to the tropical South America was found for the first time in Germany as container weed: within the outdoor catering area in the city of Braunschweig this species grows in plant containers with Photinia glabra s.l.. Already some years ago its spreading through private import of container plants from Northern Italy to Germany...
During study trips through Albania in 2010 and 2023 some historically significant
towns have been visited and I made some unsystematic observations on flora and
vegetation.

A main progress in the evalua-tion was made by using own analyses of the salt content of the rhizosphere of ruderal plants, experiments on germination in defined NaCl solution, and mainly by the evaluation of the Central European literature, especially the “Flora indicativa” by LANDOLT & al. (2007) in ad-dition to the salt indicator values regardin...

The TU Braunschweig developed together with the city. Its central area is interlocked with the Wilhelminian residential area. With the development of the university campus-like structures were built, that means a hybrid land use is established. For this study the spontaneous flora of the areas used by the university was described as complete as pos...
New records of adventive plants in the cities of Braunschweig, Magdeburg and Wolfsburg
In historical times the system of waterways was overlayed only by historical courses (Dietwege, Heerwege, long distance trails of flocks, later also causeways). Nowadays overlaying nets of traffic systems like roads, motorways, railway tracks and inland waterways facilitate the spreading of ruderal plants and invaders. The "globalization" results a...
The flora of walls in Corfu was investigated between 1993 and 2010. In doing so, 296 taxa growing in walls are recorded, which are distributed to over 75 plant families. The most important families are Asteraceae (34 taxa) and Poaceae (32 taxa), whilst 36 families have only one representative. Like in other investigated regions the flora of the wal...
Over a time period of 30 years all vascular plants growing on walls in Germany have been documented by the author. These data have been completed by literature research. 772 taxa have been found till now. 293 (38 %) of them are advent plants. Only 20 species of the 116 archaeophytes (= pre-1492 aliens) are common; all others are relatively seldom....

1. Abstract A survey of plants growing on walls in North Cyprus resulted in a preliminary checklist of some 200 vascular plant species. This corresponds to more than 15 percent of all species known for North Cyprus. In comparison to Europe the amounts of therophytes, phanerophytes and geophytes are considerably higher.
86 vascular plant species are observed on walls between Antibes and Menton. Most records are made on retaining walls and historical fortifications. 60,5 % of the plants are indigenous, 7,0 % are archaeophytes, 32,6 % are neophytes. Wooded species, at least 20 (23,3 %) play a more important role compared to Central Europe due to the climatically pre...

An Update of the checklist of vascular plants for the urban area of Wolfsburg (Griese 1999) makes records for 27 new species (neophytes) and 7 already elsewhere published records. So the nowadays flora of Wolfsburg consists at least in 936 species, among them 258 neophytes.
Chelidonium majus is a typical species of old settlements. Although being one of the most widespread plants in Central Europe, its germination biology is hardly known. Information on its floristic status are unclear too. We have checked therefore critically the information on its morphology and living mode. Its germination was investigated under di...

The flora of the city of Goslar was investigated over 20 years as complete as possible. Public areas have been mapped in 10 selected years. During these investigations 205 spontaneous growing species have been documented. The main growing places are pavements and walls named 'urban hard surfaces' by the recent literature of urban ecology. The regis...
Datura stramonium is seen as a naturalised neophyte scattered in warm and dry areas. It is seen as a run wild ornamental plant having a relatively long lasting seed bank in the soil. While Datura stramonium appeared in former times only occasionally it becomes more and more frequent in Braunschweig and its surroundings. This is why its growing plac...
