Introduction
Hi! I'm a geographer with a particular interest in understanding nature-culture interactions in the management of contentious landscapes. Some of my research interests also include exploring local perspectives on rewilding, conflict management in protected areas, and the overall dynamic interactions between natural and social systems. I'm passionate about birding and hiking!

The controversy around the eucalypt plantations transcends in Galicia its forest policy and encompasses today the less-studied social and political contexts. Whilst none of its species have been catalogued by the Spanish Government as invasive species, many local governments are assembling together to influence and reverse the situation. Taking thi...
[50 open access copies available here: https://www.tandfonline.com/eprint/YEIQCNEQXMBNAFJPS6NE/full?target=10.1080/00049182.2021.1999628] · Forestry plantations constitute fertile ground for critical analysis of land use conflict. Policy-makers are increasingly recognising the need to address controversial issues in the plantation forestry sector....
Rewilding is growing worldwide as a conservation approach to face the restoration of all natural processes that are suppressed or degraded by human action. After plenty of theoretical discussion and some limited experimental practices, rewilding remained conceptually open and diverse with regard to its operational framework. However, little was dis...
Social and cultural perspectives are increasingly considered in the literature on invasive alien species (IAS), after decades of being underexplored. However, within this growing body of research, there is little investigation into the role and knowledge of everyday rural and environmentalist networks in defining and engaging with or against the ex...
Researchers, planners, and decision makers admit the need to take into account the social conflicts inherent to invasive species management in order to minimize controversy. These conflicts are mainly based on differences in values systems, thus causing antithetical policies in environmental management. On the topic of Eucalyptus plantations, this...
The use of fire as a tool for environmental management has been widely practiced across societies worldwide as a crucial agent of landscape transformation. However, the recent surge in large forest fires poses significant risks due to their uncontrollable intensity, requiring new strategies in forest management and fire prevention. As rural areas i...
Urban studies concerning inequality propose that analyses focused solely on the socially disadvantaged sectors are insufficient to fully illustrate the phenomenon. More than a decade after the outbreak of the real estate, financial, and social crisis of 2008, segregation research points toward a structural character of the phenomenon, thereby surpa...
The expansion of eucalypt plantations constitutes a growing source of landscape transformation in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. In this context, forest planning has failed to design forestry policies that consider the demands of the population as a whole. Among other consequences, in 2018 a group of activists founded a volunteer programme...
Fragas do Eume make up an emblematic area of Galicia whose protection results from historical environmentalist claims. In line with the “old” conservation geographies discussed by political ecologists, the narratives around this park have experienced over time significant ruptures with the supposed general interest, hence constituting conflicts of...
The role and importance of a built structure are closely related to the surrounding area, with interest in a given area having a concomitant effect on the relevance given to the constructions it may hold. Heritage interest in landscape areas has grown in recent times leading to a sound valorisation process. This connects with the recent concept of...
This paper aims to question the institutional discourse existing with respect to Fragas do Eume Natural Park (Galicia, NW Spain) conservation project. We review and contrast the factual policies developed in our study area, regarding Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus spp.) management after 20 years of legal protection. Whilst the park was initially — and supp...

Hi,
I was wondering if there's any possibility of visualizing a diagram of two or more codes in NVivo showing all the links between them. For example: if we're coding attitudes (child codes: positive & negative) on the one hand and public policies (child codes: X, Y, Z) on the other, can we visualize a relationship between those P/N attitudes and the X, Y, Z codes? The text would be highlighted with P/N attitude and X/Y/Z policy.
Cheers,
Diego
