Virtualization has enabled cloud computing to deliver computing capabilities using limited computer hardware. Server virtualization provides capabilities to run multiple virtual machines (VMs) independently in a shared host leading to efficient utilization of server resources. Unfortunately, VMs experience interference from each other as a result o...

Virtual machine (VM) consolidation in data centres is a technique that is used to ensure minimum use of physical servers (hosts) leading to better utilization of computing resources and energy savings. To achieve these goals, this technique requires that the estimated VM size is on the basis of application workload resource demands so as to maximiz...

Datacenters are becoming the indispensable infrastructure for supporting the services offered by cloud computing. Unfortunately, datacenters consume a lot of energy, which currently stands at 3% of global electrical energy consumption. Consequently, cloud service providers (CSP) experience high operating costs (in terms of electricity bills), which...

Cloud computing has gained a lot of interest from both small and big academic and commercial organizations because of its success in delivering service on a pay-as-you-go basis. Moreover, many users (organizations) can share server computing resources, which is made possible by virtualization. However, the amount of energy consumed by cloud data ce...

Road accidents are a major cause of injuries and death in developing countries. It is crucial to build a road accident database and data retrieval system as a fundamental resource in improving road safety. Since the accident database needs to hold reliable data, accurate methods for accident data collection must be used. This study focuses on impro...

Question
Hello Researcher?
Is there a way LinkedIn can use the connections or any other information on LinkedIn to discover a parent to a LinkedIn user or a child to a LinkedIn user

Question
Hello there,
I have data of a number of virtual machines (VMs), which shows how the VMs have been consuming computing resouces (I/O, CPU, RAM etc) for a perion of 30 days. The data shows that for each resources, comsumption is varying alot with several peaks and Troughs.
How do I detect peaks for the different time series data - my goal is to shows that the VMs data peaks simulateneously or not peak at the same time
Regards.

Question
Hello there
I got some questions
1. Did Cloudsim Plus retain Cloudsim’s default VM placement algorithms such as First Fit (FF) and First Fit Decreasing (FFD), VM selection policies etc… or they have been altered? If they changed or nor, where do I change code or class/interface to extend/implement to add my VM placement policy, VM selection policies etc…
2. There is a workload provided by Bitbrain here (http://gwa.ewi.tudelft.nl/datasets/gwa-t-13-materna), is there a best way I can automate the creation of VMs shown in trace 1 in Cloudsim Plus? Something else that may not be related to Cloudsim plus: on that trace what do you understand from this statement :
“The traces were taken on a VMware ESX environment using the following physikal resources:
49 Hosts, 69 CPU cores and 6780 GB RAM ” Does this mean 49 hosts EACH with 69 CPU cores and 6780 GB RAM?
Question
Hello Researchers,
I want to study the difference in power consumption when you run homogeneous workloads and heterogeneous workloads. I will use phoronix-test-suite for benchmarks. when i run phoronix-test-suite system-sensors on my ubuntu server, Phoronix test suite says the following sensors are unsupported,
CPU Fan Speed
- CPU Power Consumption
- CPU Voltage
- GPU Fan Speed
- GPU Frequency
- GPU Power Consumption
- GPU Usage
- GPU Voltage
- Drive Temperature
- System Fan Speed
- System Power Consumption
- System V12 Voltage
- System V3 Voltage
- System V5 Voltage
Does it mean all these sensors are unavailable, if yes, how will i read system energy consumption when i run my benchmarks.
my hardware and software is shown below:
Hardware:
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 @ 4.00GHz (8 Cores), Motherboard: HP 1905, Chipset: Intel 4th Gen Core DRAM, Memory: 12288MB, Disk: 1000GB Western Digital WD10EZEX-60M, Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 2048MB, Audio: Realtek ALC221, Monitor: HP V193, Network: Intel Connection I217-LM
Software:
OS: Ubuntu 16.04, Kernel: 4.4.0-124-generic (x86_64), Desktop: Unity 7.4.5, Display Driver: modesetting 1.18.4, Compiler: GCC 5.4.0 20160609, File-System: ext4, Screen Resolution: 1366x768

Question
Hello,
I am teaching a database systems class and I wish to guide students on how a distributed databases work.
We are using postgres DBMS for illustration.
What other applications do I need to setup a DDBMS in one windows OS machine.

Question
Hello Researchers,
I would love to show proof of resource wastage using Google cluster trace. Unfortunately, I do not know where/how to start, what tools i need and knowledge required to do so. Can anyone give some information or point to some tutorial that can assist?

Question
Hallo,
Just starting my PhD in energy efficiency in cloud computing and I am looking for a professor from a university in Germany who can supervise my work while in German - Looking for contacts.
Thanks.
Question
Dear researchers,
I am in my early stages in my research where i wish to come up with algorithms, techniques and models for efficient energy management in the cloud environments.
How possible that I can benefit from CoMon of planetLab? And can I access it if my university is not a member?
