I undertook my PhD studies in the laboratory of Prof. Anne Cooke where I investigated the role of Th17 cells in Type One diabetes. During this time we were amongst the first wave of papers to document plasticity in the Th17 lineage. In 2011 I was awarded £186,000 as part of an Arthritis Research UK fellowship to investigate whether the failure of mechanisms to maintain FOXP3 expression in Regulatory T cells contributes to the development of more severe disease in childhood arthritis.
