Assoc. Professor and Head of the Division of Microbiology at Univ ersatz of Burgos. He has performed research stays in the Danish Veterinary Institute (Denmark), University of Prague (Czech Republic), the Food and Environmental Research Agency (UK), and the Univ Bristol (UK) -Leverhulme visiting Professor and Marie Curie Fellow. His interest is focused on the detection and control of food-borne pathogens.

We report for the first time mecC-MRSA in livestock in Spain. One isolate (sequence type 130) was found in milk samples among 601 S. aureus isolates obtained from 229 dairy sheep farms. This finding highlights the potential for zoonotic transmission of mecC-MRSA and the need for surveillance programs to monitor its presence and clonal evolution.
