Introduction
My research journey, enriched by competitive grants and international collaborations, focuses on ichthyology, otolith microchemistry, diadromous species, and statistical analysis. I've developed conservation tools—including a serious game and policy guidelines—served on seven committees, and mentored emerging researchers. Proficient in leadership, communication, and multiple languages, I bridge science, policy, and stakeholder engagement to advance ecosystem services.

As global temperatures rise, the life-history traits of many marine species are changing, with important implications for sh stocks, ecosystems, and sheries. In sh populations, both plastic and genetic adaptations in traits like body size and maturity timing are in uenced by shing pressures and environmental changes. As ectothermic animals, sh rely...

Regular monitoring of diadromous fishes is critical to inform their management and conservation. Yet, the in-situ data collection these species is challenging due to their complex life cycle and low abundance. Focusing on the sea lamprey (Petromyzon marinus, Petromyzontidae) and the European shads (Alosa alosa and A. fallax, Clupeidae), emblematic...

Natural biocomplexity, characterized by genetic and phenotypic diversity, enhances the resilience of meta-populations by buffering against environmental fluctuations and stochastic events. This diversity acts as a natural bet hedge, where different populations may thrive under varying conditions, ensuring the overall stability and survival of the s...

Diadromous fish have exhibited a dramatic decline since the end of the 20th century. The allis shad (Alosa alosa) population in the Gironde‐Garonne‐Dordogne (GGD) system, once considered as a reference in Europe, remains low despite a fishing ban in 2008. One hypothesis to explain this decline is that the downstream migration and growth dynamics of...

Don't ask don't tell: when science answers unwelcome questions Management strategy evaluation (MSE) generally involves defining a decision problem, specifying objectives, and simulating the managed system to help evaluate uncertainties, risks, and trade-offs of management alternatives. Stakeholders' involvement is a core component of MSE to design...

The anadromous clupeid allis shad, Alosa alosa (Linnaeus, 1758), and twaite shad, Alosa fallax (Lacépède, 1803), collectively called European shads, are diadromous fish migrating between their reproduction areas in rivers and marine feeding grounds. Both species are in decline due to cumulative impacts of human activities across their life cycle. A...

Allis shad, Alosa alosa (Linnaeus, 1758) and Twaite shad, Alosa fallax (Lacépède, 1803) are two anadromous Clupeidae species that spend most of their life cycle in the marine environment, where they have a coastal distribution, entering the rivers only during the spawning migration. There is no commercial shad fishery at sea; however, due to their...

The increase of non-native species in rivers is of great concern. Alosa alosa Allis shad (Alosa alosa) mature at 3–6 years of age and migrate many hundreds of kilometres upstream into their natal river to spawn. Spawning occurs during spring in the main river and major tributaries, in shallow waters, and over gravel substrate (Baglinière et al., 2003). The adults usually die after spawning. Allis shad larvae hatc...
