Introduction
I am open to multidisciplinary collaborations on a wide variety of topics. My research topics have always been very broad. In my research you can find references to philosophy, sociology, literature and neuroscience. But my paradigm of reference remains psychoanalysis.
After my studies in criminology in Italy, at the University of Catania, I continued my research in France, where I now work as a researcher and teacher at the University of Brittany Occidental.
I work as a clinical psychologist.

This article explores internet addiction, with a focus on digital devices and dating apps. Using the psychoanalytical conceptualization, we present a clinical case study of a young man struggling with both his sexuality and his addiction to online interactions. The addictive nature of internet use, particularly in relation to sexuality and pornogra...
Technological addiction refers to behavior characterized by excessive and prolonged use of technological devices; reactions of anger, frustration, or panic when unable to use them; and unsuccessful attempts to reduce the time spent on them [...]
Our study on gambling has been chosen for a Research Snapshot by the Gambling Research Exchange Ontario (GREO) in Canada. We are extremely proud to have contributed our perspective from an Italian sample and to have collaborated on a global viewpoint. It is an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious organization. You can visit the GREO website...
A subjectivity without interiority: Wittgenstein with Lacan
Several studies highlight affinities between Wittgenstein's critical philosophy and Lacan's psychoanalysis. The following article revisits certain points of both authors, proposing a theoretical and conceptual encounter between them. Indeed, the common ground between these two thinkers inc...
Any thesis about human nature that wants to call itself scientific today pretend to verify itself by neuro-sciences. These perspectives propose a pure organism that is far from unitary but with a common denominator: the reduction of the subject to its neural substrate, sometimes ignoring socio-symbolical dimension. This article develops the topics...
Dear Colleagues,
The digital era has had a tremendous influence on adolescents and young people. People no longer distinguish their experience with the old categories: offline vs. online. Digital reality is the new reality. This equivalence affects psychological development, and this is a risk and vulnerability factor, with extreme potential conse...
For many adolescents and young adults, gambling can represent an attractive and exciting form of entertainment, a way to take risks and explore new experiences. However, gambling also poses a significant risk for this age group. Research suggests that adolescents and young adults are particularly vulnerable to the negative consequences of gambling,...
In this paper, the author dedicates an introduction to some of Kafka's writings collected in this edition dedicated to comic fiction. The author, echoing his other scholarly studies on the subject, presents the humorous side of Kafka's work, emphasising its implicitly political character. Through a psychoanalytic gaze, in fact, Kafka's work appears...
The close link between law and violence has been amply demonstrated, a link confirmed by psychoanalysis. Indeed, symbolic order always implies jouissance, as does language with drive. In this article, we provide a state of the art on this issue by highlighting the specifics of the psychoanalytic approach through a clinical case of murder. More spec...
Who is a foreigner and who is not? Are we really foreigners beyond the borders of the country? The aim of this article is to show that something else is at play in this notion: we are all strangers and something in us makes us strangers to ourselves. Violent crime involving the dimension of loss of perception ans sense of reality demonstrates this...
The relationship between criminal law, neuroscience and criminology has already been widely explored in the scientific literature, both at the legal and psychological level. However, there have not been many psychoanalytic and psychodynamic readings on the relationship between cognitive neuroscience and criminology. This article attempts to articul...
The relationship between psychoanalysis, creativity and art
has always been a harbinger of suggestions and questions. The focus of psychoanalysis is on the analysis of unconscious fantasies, on the value they have in the subjective psychic organization and in the drive orientation they convey. The unconscious fantasy indicates a creative element s...
The following article is a short reflection on the production of the subject as an effect of significant and language in general. Miller, the disciple of Lacan, uses the image of the dentist as a metaphor for this kind of production: the extraction of a tooth. We use a dreamlike association with Wittgenstein’s example of toothache to explain the li...
The following contribution is a reflection on the nature of the law, its hidden aspects and its dark side. Some authors note an implicit aspect of revenge in the legal system, thus highlighting how aspects of violence and coercion are involved in the symbolic function of the law that go beyond any rational and real need for control and deterrence....
The comparison between law and psychoanalysis reveals a radical difference in the way the subject is conceived. Whereas the subject of law is a subject centred on conscious functions, a ‘master’ subject, transparent to itself, a subject that would correspond to Descartes' ego cogito, the subject of psychoanalysis, on the other hand, is a subject de...
On the basis of our clinical experience, we reflected on the psychological impact that the first wave of the COVID19 pandemic had on the subjects heard in psychotherapy practice. We then conducted a psychoanalytical reflection on the ways of reacting to the discomfort of imprisonment and the threat of illness that each subject, in his or her singul...
Lacanian psychoanalysis cannot disregard its debts to philosophy, especially continental philosophy. Lacan’s conception of language is derived from multiple philosophical sources (i.e., Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Hegel, Kierkegaard) including Heidegger’s philosophy of language and pride of place. Heidegger’s view of language prepares the ground for re...
Starting from the Freud’s text ‘The uncanny’, this paper aims to reflect on the uncanny in psychoanalysis and apply it to the reading of the social experience of strangeness that our communities experience with regard to the ‘foreigner’. For this purpose, various psychoanalytic perspectives on the uncanny are investigated and the Lacanian approach...
Both for applicative purposes, especially in the legal-forensic and criminological fields, and for theoretical purposes, the psychoanalytic investigation of the notion of autonomy can be of very current interest for the philosopher who deals with law.
The issue of subjective autonomy arises in psychoanalysis in terms of the construction process, a...
Kafka’s works are typically characterized by an atmosphere of
enigma and restlessness. Agreeing with this classical
interpretation but going beyond it, our purpose is to highlight
comical elements of Kafka’s work. Comical effects have political
goals in Kafka. In Freudian interpretation ridiculousness
becomes a symbol of unconscious’ power ove...
