The VIRTIGATION project, funded by the EU Horizon 2020 R&I programme, aims at developing rapid and lasting solutions to address emerging viral diseases caused by begomoviruses (whitefly-transmitted) and tobamoviruses (mechanically transmitted) on cucurbits and tomato in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean Basin, as well as at increasing knowledge to better control and manage the viral diseases. Exploration of safety, tolerability and clinical efficacy of solnatide investigative medicinal product (solnatide IMP) in patients infected with the 2019 new Cornoavirus. SOLNATIDE will clinically test peptide-based products targeting life-threatening pulmonary diseases (such as oedematous respiratory failure, acute lung injury). APEPTICO’s lead-compound solnatide IMP has been designed for the therapeutic treatment of patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and various forms of PPO.
Project
This EU-funded project will develop innovative biopesticides that decrease chemical pesticide input and provide higher protection to olive and almond plants. The biopesticides will be tested at large scale in at least two regions infested by Xylella: Apulia and Mallorca. The biopesticides will be proved in a combined and integrated approach on traditional and recently planted olive plantations in both areas and on almond trees in Mallorca.
