Case data of 43 score deteriorators from 1,416 clients over five years were analysed. Therapists' explanations for deterioration focused on the client, not the therapist or therapy. Investigating deterioration after therapy is important and complex but anxiety-provoking for therapists. Triangulation by client follow-up is recommended.
Cognitive stimulation therapy (CST), originally developed in dementia, was piloted on an inpatient brain injury rehabilitation population to determine feasibility. A modified version was trialled with five participants. Orientation, challenging behaviour and cognition showed significant improvement overall.
