Introduction
Claudio Cucini currently works as PhD student at the ESZ_lab (Life Science Dept.) of the Univeristy of Siena. His project mainly focuses on the Antarctica biodiversity and Collembola's transciptome response subjected to climatic change. However, Claudio enjoys following other projects, such as the microbial diversity in polystyrene-degrading insect's guts and the phylogeny of basal Hexapoda.

Climatic changing conditions are treating the worldwide biodiversity. Polar regions, characterized by a limited variety of species are the ones most affected by global warming and environmental changes. Especially in Antarctica, important efforts must be done to understand how arthropods, one of the most widespread taxon in Antarctica, are facing environmental changes conditions. Moreover, it is necessary a clarification of their phylogeography and population genetics.
