Introduction
I'm a PhD fellow at Social Science department at UiT the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, in affiliation with the Arctic Center for Sustainable Energy. My research entails looking at the developments of low-carbon hydrogen in Northern Norway, the type of transition pathways they are likely to take, how hydrogen interacts with the other incumbent systems like natural gas, electricity and maritime, as well as how green hydrogen developments can be accelerated as blue hydrogen phases out.

Can Norway be an important hydrogen exporter to the European Union (EU) by 2030? We explore three scenarios in which Norway’s hydrogen export market may develop: A Business-as-usual, B Moderate Onshore, C Accelerated Offshore. Applying a sector-coupled energy system model, we examine the techno-economic
viability, spatial and socio-economic consid...
With the melting of the Arctic sea ice induced by climate change, the navigability window of the Arctic shipping routes becomes longer, making it possible for container ships to shorten their travel distance from Europe to the Pacific. The resulting growth in shipping traffic in the Arctic could intensify climate change impacts in the region with g...
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has undeniably disrupted the EU's energy system and created a window of opportunity for an acceleration of the low-carbon energy transition in Europe. As the trading bloc's biggest gas supplier, Norway faces the imminent threat of fast-depleting gas reserves and declining value for its exports.
Norway is trying to be...
As the threat of climate change impacts looms, with global temperatures rising to 1.5oC as early as 2030, the need for rapid low-carbon energy transition is more urgent than ever. As a global leader in climate change negotiations, the EU has committed to become carbon neutral by 2050 and hydrogen is set to play a critical role in decarbonising sect...
