Various zoning policies aimed to ensure the right to daylighting of buildings often affect and determine the urban morphology. However, the limited effect of such policies- e.g., Korea's "Diagonal Plane Restriction"- has been attracting further investigation. By comparing similar policies in different countries, the research aims to identify the fundamental problems and propose improvements based on a performance-based zoning approach.
