Introduction
I'm currently working to understand the ecology and evolution of terrestrial salamanders in the family Plethodontidae across multiple scales from biogeography to microhabitat use. This includes studies of speciation mechanisms in the highlands of Oaxaca (Thorius and Pseudoeurycea), sympatry in congeneric species in the southern Sierra Nevada (Batrachoseps), and the role of climatic and tectonic history in divergence and speciation in California and Oregon (sg. Batrachoseps and sg. Plethopsis).

Georeferencing is the process of aligning a text description of a geographic location with a spatial location based on a geographic coordinate system. Training aids are commonly created around the georeferencing process to disseminate community standards and ideas, guide accurate georeferencing, inform users about new tools, and help users evaluate...

Ranching and ranchlands are an integral part of Monterey County’s cultural and ecological landscape. Anecdotal evidence suggests, however, that urban encroachment, rising land prices, and other pressures are causing a growing number of ranchers to sell their land. In partnership with the Big Sur Land Trust and with support from the Dean Witter...
