For the environmentally friendly expansion of solar farms in Austria, Birdlife Austria has developed criteria for site control as well as criteria for the construction and design of solar facility on open land.
In April 2023 an new Version 2.0 was released.
The study provides an overview of the possible effects of solar farms on endangered openland birds. Both published studies and unpublished project reports from big solar farms, mainly located in Germany, served as a basis.
