In OptiProd.NRW, scientists, ICT experts from SMEs, and global industrial partners are developing a software framework to solve realistic planning and scheduling problems from the process industries. The methods employed combine state-of-the-art mathematical optimization and (meta-)heuristics with event-driven simulation that is much more detailed and accurate than in existing approaches, enabling the direct deployment of production schedules to real-world plants without modifications.
