Implicitly or explicitly, sequence analysis is at the heart of research on routine dynamics. Sequence analysis takes many forms in many different disciplines, because sequence is central to temporality, process, language, and narrative. In this chapter, we focus on sequence analysis in routine dynamics research. The goal of this chapter is to help...

In research on process organization studies, the concept of multiplicity is widely used, but a fundamental confusion about what process multiplicity means persists. As a result, we miss some of the potential of this concept for understanding process dynamics and process change. In this paper, we define process multiplicity as a duality of ‘one’ and...

Business Process Management and Routine Dynamics are two streams of research that both explore process. Project
We are an informal and collaborative incubator for research on organizational phenomena of societal concern, such as new forms of organizing, grand challenges, artificial intelligence, organizational design etc. For this, we believe that dialogue and collaboration with practice is essential. We study organizational phenomena through a routine dynamics lens, e.g. focusing on actions, practices and tools. We are creating research rather than disseminating finished work; a forum for asking questions, not just presenting answers. As such, we are incubating… • New research ideas • New methodologies • New research collaborations Our values include • Space for discussion and reflection • Open for new ideas, connections, theories… • Experimenting • Sense of community and helping each other • Relaxed and fun atmosphere We meet triannually in different locations across Europe.

Scrum is a product development framework which divides the product development process in brief phases (i.e., sprints) that are accompanied by a predefined set of routines and rules. Oftentimes, Scrum is regarded an 'agile' approach to product development because each sprint is planned in regards of the requirements and priorities of the emergent situation. In this project we draw on a 12-month ethnographic study of Scrum-teams of a medium sized high-tech manufacturing company. The purpose of this project is to explain how routines support the unfolding of innovative product development processes.

Dynamic capabilities are an important concept in strategic management research. However, since research on dynamic capabilities oftentimes remains on an abstract level, zooming into those capabilities might help scholars to understand their emergence and characteristics. The purpose of this project is to unravel how micro-dynamics such as actions of multiple individuals contribute to dynamic capabilities. The following questions are addressed: 1) How does the enactment of stability and flexibility link to dynamic capabilities? How do individuals and teams balance those modes in order to attain ambidexterity? 2) Which role does entrepreneurial behavior play in order to support dynamic capabilities? 3) How do connections and networks between individuals influence the emergence of dynamic capabilities?
