The Surface Ocean - Lower Atmosphere Study (SOLAS) project is an international research initiative aiming to understand the key biogeochemical-physical interactions and feedbacks between the ocean and atmosphere. Achievement of this goal is important to understand and quantify the role that ocean-atmosphere interactions play in the regulation of climate and global change. The SOLAS science mission is organised around five core themes: Greenhouse gases and the oceans; Air-sea interface and fluxes of mass and energy; Atmospheric deposition and ocean biogeochemistry; Interconnections between aerosols, clouds, and marine ecosystems; Ocean biogeochemical control on atmospheric chemistry. The continuing success of SOLAS relies on the input of its engaged members. SOLAS consists of a Scientific Steering Committee (SSC), which is responsible for providing scientific guidance to, and overseeing the development, planning and implementation of SOLAS. Furthermore, a global network of National Representatives complementing the SOLAS science. The above listed project collaborators are SSC Members, National Representatives as well as the current and past members of the SOLAS International Project Office (in this order alphabetically ranked).
