Since the 18th century, hundreds species of marine polychaetes were described from French waters by famous taxonomists (Lamarck, Savigny, Quatrefages, St Joseph, Fauvel, Amoureux…). However, recent publications pointed out that new species remain to be described, even from well-known areas.
