• Among the many concerns for biodiversity in the Anthropocene, recent reports of flying insect loss are particularly alarming, given their importance as pollinators, pest control agents, and as a food source. Few insect monitoring programmes cover the large spatial scales required to provide more generalizable estimates of insect responses to glob...

Long-distance migration of insects impacts food security, public health, and conservation–issues that are especially significant in Africa. Windborne migration is a key strategy enabling exploitation of ephemeral havens such as the Sahel, however, its knowledge remains sparse. In this first cross-season investigation (3 years) of the aerial fauna o...

Knowledge on long-distance migration of insects is especially important for food security, public health, and conservation-issues that are especially significant in Africa. During the wet season, the Sahel nourishes diverse life forms which are soon purged by the long dry season. Windborne migration is a key strategy enabling exploitation of such e...

Concept, current status and tasks for the realization of the planned atlas of the Heteroptera of the federal state of Hesse (Germany) are presented. The aim is to create a comprehensive knowledge base for future assessments of the occurrence and threats of the more than 700 true bug species in Hesse. The history of heteropterological research in He...

Current studies found an incidence of 12-31% ventricular tachyarrhythmias and sudden cardiac death during cardiac pacing months or even years after pacemaker insertion. MADIT(12) and MUSTT(13) demonstrated that patients with poor LV function after Myocardial infarction (MI) showing non-sustained ventricular tachycardia (nsVT) and inducibility durin...

Stilt bug populations of Neides aduncus, Neides tipularius, Apoplymus pectoralis and Metacanthus annulosus are reported to occur in funnel-webs of Agelena orientalis. Specimens of Neides spp. were only found occasionally at the adult stage. The larvae of A. pectoralis and M. annulosus are obviously capable of feeding on prey caught in the investiga...

Collecting distributional, phenological and ecological data of all species of Heteroptera of the state of Hessen (Germany). Data will be published in separate works, including at least a comprehensive distribution atlas. Compilation and evaluation of all available present and historical data, which will be kept in a database at the Institute of Applied Entomology, Beverungen, and will serve as a basis for future Red Lists of endangered species. It is intended to make the distributional data available online at a later time.
