Introduction
In my empirical and conceptual work, I try to understand how behavior is selected by its effects on the organism’s environment, how an organism's behavior shapes the environment, and the interplay between the two. I am interested in behavioral adaptations on multiple levels resulting from natural selection, as well as from operant conditioning. I aim at contributing to an interdisciplinary integration of behavior analysis, behavioral ecology, and evolutionary theory.

The goal of the project is to shed light on the question what constitutes meaningful units of analysis in conversations. I assume verbal activities and the units that select them to be nested into more extended units. I aim at developing empirical procedures showing what units are selected and what units do the selecting. If you have a conceptual or an empirical contribution on the topic, I'd be happy to learn about it.
