Introduction
Carol Jean Gallo is a PhD student at Cambridge University interested in "local" understandings of peacebuilding and the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) of ex-combatants in the Democratic Republic of Congo. For her research she is interested primarily in the subjective understandings of DDR held by international institutions (the UN and World Bank) and grassroots institutions.
