Description
- Topic: Determination of the spatial structuration of Mullus barbatus, Linnaeus 1758 in mediterranean waters based on the 3D shape of otoliths. Funding: MEDUNITS, international project aimed at the evaluation of sea stocks. Directors: Dr. Kelig Mahé (IFREMER) & Dr. Sébastien Couette (Université de Bourgogne, EPHE). Expertise: Application of the Fourier elliptical tools for the characterization of the 3D structure of otoliths with the purpose of evaluating the meditteranean stocks of M. barbatus.

Technical skills : Sclerochronology (otolithometry & scalimetry), fish dissection and sampling. Expertize : creation of a statistical R program to compute all data measurements valid for any other fish sample. Funding : The european MOONFISH program aiming for a better knowledge of the corsican marine species for stock management, conservation and study.

Many organisms incorporate inorganic solids into their tissues to improve functional and mechanical properties. The resulting mineralized tissues are called biominerals. Several studies have shown that nacreous biominerals induce osteoblastic extracellular mineralization. Among them, Pinctada margaritifera is well known for the ability of its organ...
To mineralize their shells, molluscs secrete a complex cocktail of proteins—collectively defined as the calcifying shell matrix—that remains occluded in the exoskeleton. Nowadays, protein extracts from shells are recognized as a potential source of bioactive substances, among which signalling molecules, bactericides or protease inhibitors offer the...

Sagittal otolith shape analysis is one of the most widespread techniques worldwide to discriminate fish stock units, as this proxy integrates both environmental and genetic factors. All previous otolith shape studies have been carried out using two-dimensional (2D) images, a partial representation of the whole shape of the otolith. However, prior t...
From a photography by Magnus Larsson. Drypoint on grit paper, finalized on Clip Studio Paint.
Osteichthyes and chondrichthyes templates realized for Dr. Chris Harvey-Clark course on osmoregulation in fish (2018).
There's room for adding arrows and annotations, and I drew them in a funny manner in order to make it more engaging and easy to learn.
Realized in Feb. 2018 for Dr. Harvey-Clark (Dalhousie University Veterinarian) lessons.
