Lichens are symbiotic associations of algae and fungi. They are edible as food and have been used in traditional medicine for years. It is aimed to screen Peltigera praetextata (Flörke ex Sommerf.) Zopfand and Peltigera elisabethae Gyeln. phytochemically by LC/QTOF/MS and according to the constituents to evaluate the antioxidant, tyrosinase inhibit...
Article
The objectives of the study are to obtain silver nanoparticles using Anthemis tricolor in an environmentally friendly, economical, and more effective way with green synthesis and also to determine the most appropriate parameters by examining the effects of preparation conditions on particle size, polydispersity index, and zeta potential using facto...
Article
The aim of the study is to examine the cytotoxic, apoptotic effects and gene expressions of Asphodelus aestivus water extract (ASP) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPS) on decided cancer lines. Breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MDA- 231; melanoma cancer lines MEWO and CHL-1; fibroblast cancer lines WI-38 and HEL 299 were selected for biological act...

The content of fatty acids in plants and especially the ratio of unsaturated to saturated fatty acids is very important. Phenolic compounds and flavonoids with antioxidant properties are useful in scavenging harmful radicals. In this study, fatty acid compositions and antioxidant activities of the aerial parts of Ranunculus isthmicus subsp. tenuifo...

ASP was used to synthesize FeNP A . They were characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, FT-IR, TEM, SEM, XRD and ZP. The aim of this study was to evaluate in vitro cytotoxic activity and antioxidant acitivities of FeNP A and ASP . The antioxidant properties were evaluated using DPPH, ABTS ⁺ and H 2 O 2 assays. FeNP A had higher antioxidant activity com...

In this study, the essential oil of Centaurea pichleri ssp. pichleri was obtained by hydrodistillation using a Clevenger-type apparatus. GC and GC/MS analyzes of the essential oil from Centaurea pichleri ssp. pichleri were determined the identification of 48 components representing 86.9% of the oil. With this analysis, the major component was found...

A green synthesis method of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Centaurea virgata Lam. extract and the isolated compound eupatorin was investigated in this study. Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM)/energy-dispersive X-ra...

A rapid phytosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using an extract from the aerial parts of Asphodelus aestivus Brot. was investigated in this study. Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and zeta potential (ZP) were used to characterize the formation of silver...

The essential oils of three Centaurea species from Turkey, Centaurea aggregata ssp. aggregata, C. balsamita and C. behen, collected in the same habitat, have been investigated. A total of 26, 54 and 26 components were identified in C. aggregata subsp. aggregata, C. balsamita and C. behen, respectively. The main constituents of the investigated popu...
Article
Background: Centaurea virgata Lam. is a species widely used in the traditional medicine in Turkey for the treatment of diabetes, allergy and gastric ulcers. The rationale of its use in the therapy has not been studied previously, therefore the present work aimed at the chemical-pharmacological evaluation of the plant. Objective: The xanthine oxi...

The Asteraceae family is one of the richest vascular plant families in the world with 1600 – 1700 genera and 24000 – 30000 species. Centaurea genus is represented with 192 taxa in Turkey, 114 of which are endemic. Many species of the genus Centaurea have traditionally been used for their antibacterial, antirheumatic, diuretic, stomachic, astringent...

Question
When I add the ascorbic acid, which I use as a positive control, the color turns blue and the system seems to be working, but when I add PMS, there is no color change. In addition, the same system definitely does not work in the negative control. Any ideas as to why it might be?
