Every year, Hanoi suffers from several episodes (periods with daily concentration of PM2.5 higher than 50 µg m⁻³ during at least two consecutive days). These episodes are of health concern because of the high concentration of PM2.5 and/or PM0.1 and the presence of PM-bound toxic components, such as, PAHs. In this study, the concentrations of PAHs b...

In recent decades, increasing attention has been directed toward the effects of alkylphenols (APs) and bisphenols (BPs) due to their demonstrated endocrine-disruptive effects. This study investigated the occurrence and potential risk assessment of two APs and seven BPs in surface water collected from rivers flowing through Bac Ninh province which i...

Microplastics (MPs) has been recently attracted the attention of many researches due to their existence for a long time in the environment. MPs are considered as an alarming pollution issue such as their occurence in water, sediment, and organism. In this research, the characteristics of MPs such as their concentration, size, shape and composition...

Microplastics are nowadays considered ubiquitous pollutants since they have been found widespread in all environmental compartments, particularly in aquatic systems. In urban water bodies, municipal wastewater discharges and overflows of combined storm and wastewater drains are the sources of microplastic pollution. The investigation was performed...

Microplastics (MPs) are of emerging widespread concern, but amount of research done in freshwater environments and organisms is scarce compared to that in marine environments. Thus, the MPs identification in four freshwater fish at four districts of Bac Ninh province were documented, including common carp (Cyprynus carpio), grass carp (Ctenopharyng...

Current research on the photocatalytic activity of TiO 2 mainly focuses on its nano-or micro-particle forms, which are difficult to recycle and apply in real engineering applications. This study aims to apply a small pilot of TiO 2 in the ceramic form to remove carbamazepine (CBZ) from an aqueous solution under simulated sunlight. A high removal ef...

Increasing intensity of storms, typhoons, and sea level rise in conjunction with high water demand, especially for agriculture, in dry seasons in the Red River Delta may have led to seawater intruding deeper into the rivers’ estuaries. Given that losses of agricultural productivity and shortages of freshwater resources are projected, a reliable ear...

The assessment of microplastic concentrations is increasing worldwide in freshwater environments and aquatic species, but habitats and local fish from rural areas of developing countries remain under-evaluated. Since 2018, several provinces in the South of Viet Nam have been concerned about the microplastic issue in different environments. Bac Ninh...

In this work, four non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical products in surface water were analyzed by UPLC-MS/MS. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical products in surface water were pre-concentrated on a mix-mode cation exchange cartridge. The analytes were then separated on the BEH column utilizing a gradient of methanol and water...

The overuse of antibiotics is losing their effectiveness due to increased antibiotic resistance in bacteria. Over the past two decades, the evaluation of antibiotic residues in the environment has received considerable attention. In this work, a combined SPE-UPLC-MS/MS method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of 9 antib...

This study aims to find the interaction between ionome and metabolome profiles of Pteris vittata L., an arsenic hyperaccumulator plant, to reveal its metal tolerance mechanism. Therefore, at the Pb–Zn mining sites located in Thai Nguyen province, Vietnam, where these species dominate, soil and plant samples were collected. Their multi-element compo...

Sulfamethoxazole (SMX) is one of the most antibiotic compounds detected in the aquatic environment. The potential concentration of SMX could raise the ecotoxicological effects on microbial. The photocatalyst based on TiO 2 has been demonstrated as the effective material for the elimination of SMX in water. However, due to the non-selected attack of...

This research focused on methylene blue (MB) degradation by the UV/TiO2 and UV/TiO2/H2O2 photocatalysis in a suspended photocatalytic reactor coupled with a microfiltration (MF) module. Removing MB by UV/TiO2‐MF process at TiO2 concentration of 0.5 g L‐1 achieved the apparent kinetic reaction rate constant of 0.0052 min‐1 and a permeate flux of 48...

Heavy metal contamination in the environment due to anthropogenic activities in industrial and agricultural areas represents stress for the living ecosystem including soil microorganisms. The adaptive response of bacterial communities to these pollutants can be observed through the increasing proportion of resistant bacteria. Our study aimed at eva...

The appearance of antibiotic sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in natural environments poses a potential risk to human health and ecology. Among many developed treatment techniques to remove and degrade SMX from an aqueous environment, photodegradation using the phase-pure TiO 2 nanoparticles (NPs) in brookite structure as an active photocatalyst could be con...

A series of trinuclear Cu(II) complexes with N-methylanthraniloyl(4-phenylthiosemicarbazide) (H2L) have been successfully prepared and structurally determined. The organic ligand H2L readily reacts with Cu(ClO4)2 ∙ 6 H2O and CuCl2 ∙ 2 H2O in DMF under formation of trinuclear complexes with the compositions of [Cu3(L)2(HCOO)2] (1) and [Cu3(L)2Cl2] (...

Question
Hello everyone,
I'm measuring total phosphorous in soil based on ISO 11263. When I digest sediment samples, I use mixture of concentrate H2SO4 and HClO4, slightly heating and then boiling for 20min until all organic matters are decomposed. I has check the recovery of method which was only ~20%. I am worry that H3PO4 released during digestion process by evaporation. So, is it possible to lost H3PO4 by evaporation?
Thank you and looking forward for your answers.
