Introduction
Britta Baumgarten, Dr. phil., sociologist is a contracted researcher at CIES, Lisbon. She works on current Portuguese social movements against austerity, movements of the poor in Brazil and the changed frameworks for action of these movements over time. Furthermore she is interested in transnational cooperation of movement activists and the political participation of groups usually excluded from political decision making.
