Introduction
Boon Kuan Woo currently works at the R&D, Nanopermai Enterprise, a company based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We have developed a new type of fluorescent dye for biologists, biophysicists, microscopy engineers and medical researchers. This new specialized dye reagent is called Permai fluorescent dye. The fluorescence stability of this new dye is very good and long-lasting. It does not photo-bleach easily and its staining protocol is very fast.

Nanoparticulates responsive to X-rays offer increased efficacy of radiation therapy. However, successful demonstrations of such nanoparticle use are limited so far due to lack of significant radiosensitizing effects or poor nanoparticle stability in a biological system. Zinc oxide (ZnO) is the most promising biocompatible material for medicinal app...
A long afterglow phosphor CaZnGe 2O 6:Tb 3+ has been prepared by using organic coated luminescence ZnO nanopowder through a high temperature solid-state reaction route. This new CaZnGe 2O 6:Tb 3+ long afterglow phosphor sample emits the Tb 3+ green fluorescence 543 nm emission corresponding to 5 D 4 → 7 F 5 transition under UVA 350 nm illumination....
CaZnGe2O6:Tb3+ afterglow phosphors were prepared by solid state reaction using organic coated ZnO nanopowders and their photoluminescence, X-ray luminescence and afterglow properties were investigated. The CaZnGe2O6:Tb3+ samples emit a green luminescence at 548nm attributed to the 5D4–7F5 transition of Tb3+. It was observed that the replacement of...
Green emission at around 500 nm is observed in Gd2O3:Ce3+ nanoparticles and the intensity is highly dependent on the concentration of Ce3+ in the nanoparticles. The luminescence of this emission displays both picosecond (ps) and millisecond (ms) lifetimes. The ms lifetime is over four orders of magnitude longer than typical luminescence lifetimes (...
The frequency-dependent optical and dielectric properties of annealed ZnO nanoparticles in the range of 0.1 to 0.9 THz are
studied by using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). The refractive index, power absorption and complex dielectric
constants are obtained and the experimental results are well fit with a simple effective medium theory...
Terahertz properties of chemically synthesized MgO nanocrystals are studied by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy in the frequency range extending up to 3.7 THz. The experimentally determined optical and dielectric properties of the nanocrystalline MgO are compared with those of a bulk MgO single crystal. Three prominent resonance modes, which are...
Water-soluble ZnOnanoparticles coated with polyethylene glycol biscarboxymethyl (PEG(COOH)2)were prepared in ethanol/water solutions. The ZnOnanoparticles have a hexagonal structure with an average size of 10 nm. Three different luminescence bands are observed from the nanoparticle solutions: green emission at 530 nm from surface states or defects,...
We report x-ray luminescence from La F 3: Ce 3+, Tb 3+ and La F 3: Tb 3+ water-soluble nanoparticles. The x-ray luminescence is dominated by emission from Tb 3+ ions, similar to photoluminescence spectra of the nanoparticle aqueous solutions and spectra from nanoparticle powders prec...
The purpose of this study is to determine the ability of fluorescent nanoparticles to diffuse into a crystalline lens. Intact porcine lenses from five-month-old pigs, intact human lenses obtained from three donors aged 41, 42 and 45 years, and sections of human lens cortex obtained from four donors aged 11, 19, 32, and 34 years were incubated for 7...
