In this article, we present the Construction Grammar Conceptual Network method, developed for identifying lexical similarity and word sense discrimination in a syntactically tagged corpus, based on the cognitive linguistic assumption that coordination construction instantiates conceptual relatedness. This graph analysis method projects a semantic v...

Numerous centrality measures have been introduced as tools to determine the importance of nodes in complex networks, reflecting various network properties, including connectivity, survivability, and robustness. In this paper, we introduce Semi-Local Intregation (SLI), a node centrality measure for undirected and weighted graphs that takes into acco...

This paper describes a graph method for labeling word senses and identifying lexical sentiment potential by integrating the corpus-based syntactic-semantic dependency graph layer, lexical semantic and sentiment dictionaries. The method, implemented as ConGraCNet application on different languages and corpora, projects a semantic function onto a par...

Speakers of many languages tend to use pairs of words such as emotion/feeling or jealousy/envy interchangeably. This paper explores the differences in the way in which the emotional states of jealousy and envy are understood (in the Croatian language ljubomora and zavist) and the influence of culture on the expression of these states. First, we es...

Among his numerous collaborations, over the last decade, Andre Scedrov has formed quite a stable research group. This would not have been possible without his leading scientific role, which has been equally measured by his generous personality, hospitality, and kindness. Among the obtained results and mathematical solutions, the group is particular...

Based on the corpus analysis of the conceptualization of strah 'fear' in Croatian, this chapter demonstrates that the conceptual structure of emotions emerges from syntactic and semantic organization activated by sensory-motor, ontological, spatial, thematic and agentive linguistic constructions. The proposed emergent constructionist model argues f...

FRAMNAT is a four-year project financed by the Croatian Science Foundation. The project involves a dynamic team of young scholars with the common goal to develop innovative methodologies for cultural memory research and cognitive linguistics analysis. Top-down and bottom-up strategies of framing nations and collective identities will be analyzed through research of practices commemorating wars of 20th century in Croatia. The project will be carried out from July 2014 to July 2018. Website: www.framnat.eu
