In the context of Heterogeneous Wireless Networks (HWN), achieving the best connectivity is crucial for users. With the availability of multiple Radio Access Technologies (RATs), users are constantly looking to be “Always Best Connected” (ABC) by connecting to the best possible RAT. This challenge is also important in Next‐Generation Networks (NGN)...

The Heterogeneous Wireless Networks is a term referring to mixed networks made of different Radio Access Technologies in the aim of achieving the Always Best Connected concept. In this case, users with multi mode terminals can connect to different wireless technologies such as 802.16, 802.11, Universal Mobile Telecommunication System, High Speed Pa...
Article
Nowadays, mobile users are equipped with multi-mode terminals allowing them to connect to different radio access technologies like WLAN, 3G (HSPA and HSPA+), and Long term evolution (LTE) each at a time. In this context, the challenge of the next-generation networks is to achieve the Always Best Connected (ABC) concept. To this end, solving the pro...
Conference Paper
An Electronic health record (EHR) is a digital representation of the paper records we are accustomed to seeing for patients; research conducted in 2019 shows that medical records of at least 173 million people, gathered since October 2009, have been breached and might have adversely influenced over half of the population in the USA [1] highlighting...
Chapter
The convergence and simultaneity of numerous wireless access networks, such as the well-known WiFi or IEEE 802.11, and cellular networks such as UMTS, HSPA, LTE, and 5G, characterize the next generation of wireless networks [1]. The goal is to realize the always best connected (ABC) concept [2] by allowing users to easily connect to diverse network...

The coexistence of different Radio Access Technologies (RATs) in the same area has enabled the researchers to get profit from the available networks by the selection of the best RAT at each moment to satisfy the user requirements. The challenge is to achieve the Always Best Connected (ABC) concept; the main issue is the automatic choice of the suit...

Heterogeneous Wireless Networks HWNs are combined networks made of different Radio Access Technologies RAT. Next-Generation Networks NGN will provide high bandwidth connectivity and high data throughput with smooth support for the user's QoS requirements, in this context, users with multi-interface terminals will be able to connect to different wir...
Chapter
As a consequence of its boom during the last decade, the telecommunications sector plays an important and essential role in our present‐day societies. The most significant innovation in this field is undoubtedly “wireless” technology. This chapter focuses on network selection in a heterogeneous environment and quality of service (QoS). Network sele...

The domain of networking and wireless communication is rapidly expanding to the point where traditional legacy networks research is nearly complete, and they are supposed to be an elder. IoT, the Internet of Things, and the 5G radio communications are the newest networking advancements. These two technologies fulfill all of the researchers' goals o...

Different Radio Access Technologies (RATs) coexist in the same area has encouraged the researchers to get profit from the available networks by selecting of the best RAT at each moment of the call session to satisfy the user requirements. In this paper, we address a real-world problem which is the frequent mobility of the users in heterogeneous net...
