A species of Baetidae, Camelobaetidius patricki is reported for the first time for Venezuela. New state records are given for Camelobaetidius edmundsi, Prebaetodes meredinensis, and Varipes sancarlos. Drawings and photographs illustrating the nymphal diagnostic characters of each species are provided. With the new record of C. patricki, the list of...

The wide distribution of Anopheles albitarsis F in Venezuela has been confirmed recently, a species of the Albitarsis Complex yet to be formally described. Morphometric studies are essential to develop illustrated keys for species identification. To contribute to the morphologic characterization of Anopheles albitarsis F from Venezuela, a tradition...

Tricorythodes guayabito sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on nymphs from Venezuela. The genus Vacupernius Wiersema and McCafferty, 2000 and the species Vacupernius packeri (Allen, 1967) are also recorded for first time from Venezuela. With this records, the number of species of Leptohyphidae in Venezuela increases from 10 to 12 species.

New records for Thraulodes marreroi in Venezuela are reported and their potential geographical distribution in the Neotropics is analyzed using the ecological niche model, using the Maximum Entropy algorithm (MaxEnt), based on reports in Brazil, Panama and Venezuela. Descriptions are included about the lotic habitat and the phytogeographic subregio...

Aquatic macroinvertebrates and organic matter (OM) are transported downstream with the current, in a process that is modulated by different mechanisms in the ecosystem. Macroinvertebrate drift and OM transport are processes involving interactions between organisms and the environment at multiple spatial and temporal scales. The objective of this st...

In order to increase knowledge on leptophlebiid mayfly biodiversity in Venezuela, we report new locations for Thraulodes eduardorum Medina and Pérez, 2010. To achieve effective identification, the last instars were collected and reared in the laboratory in order to associate them with the imagoes. This report expands the distribution range, and red...

Research on mayflies biogeography in the American continent have been generally narrative, proposing centers of origin and dispersal routes, suggesting distribution patterns for certain genera. Few researches have addressed the species level. In order to determine potential distribution patterns for species of Thraulodes, we used MaxEnt (Maximum E...

Asthenopus angelae is reported for the first time from Venezuela, extending its distribution to the Orinoco River basin. Habitat type and limnological characteristics of the sampling locality (Laguna Larga, Cinaruco river, Apure state) are described. The morphology of the nymphs and a male subimago are illustrated.

The mayfly fauna of an Andean tropical headwater stream was sampled every fifteen days during one year, and seasonal changes in density were recordered and compared to rainfall values. Even though seasonal changes of total density of genera of Ephemeroptera showed a negative correlation with rainfall values, any correlation was observed for individ...

The composition of the benthic macroinvertebrates in stream habitats is in.uenced mainly by the quality of the substrate and the current. The ri.es are stable lotic habitats, with heterogeneous substrates and detritus accumulation that should maintain abundant and diverse communities. However, in mountain streams diversity doesn't seem to differ am...
