The extracellular protein from antibiotic producing clones are approximately 1.5KD in size indicating that they belong to the NRPS gene family and was confirmed by NRPS (nonribosomal peptide synthase) PCR method. Small peptide antibiotic remarkably showed high level of antibacterial activity against clinically important organisms.
Now we want to do protein profiling and amino acid sequencing to identify the peptide antibiotic and based on the sequence it has to be compared with the already existing small peptide antibiotics by comparative proteomics method.
