Introduction
Starting as a Civil Engineering lecturer at a top-ranked university, I gained profound teaching insights. Transitioning to the field, I contributed to a leading engineering firm, addressing real-world challenges in infrastructure construction and maintenance. This journey fueled my Ph.D. at Shibaura Institute of Technology, Tokyo, blending academic rigor with practical expertise. Focused on data-driven decision-making and AI, I am dedicated to transforming infrastructure maintenance management.

The safety and operability of bridges are key elements for ensuring the functionality of highway networks. However, in Bhutan, road bridges are aging and deteriorating faster than they are maintained. This may be due to the current practice of bridge prioritization for periodic maintenance by ranking based on bridge inventory data and bridge struc...

The increasing burden of road infrastructure maintenance management has prompted numerous countries to transition towards effective maintenance planning based on data-driven Pavement Maintenance Management Systems (PMMS). Establishing a robust data-driven PMMS initially requires a comprehensive understanding of influencing factors of pavement condi...

An efficient Pavement Maintenance Management System (PMMS) is crucial for cost-effective highway network management, ensuring optimal performance throughout the pavement's expected service life. The effectiveness of PMMS relies on precise pavement performance prediction models to plan future maintenance strategies. However, creating an accurate pav...

Best practices dictate that road maintenance plans be drawn up based on the pavement conditions determined by routine inspection. However, in many cases, the maintenance strategy is based on the experience of decision-makers, rather than the actual conditions. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan, there are more than 3,000 km of provincial road...

Understanding the various types of pavement distress that can affect asphaltic pavements is essential for effective project-level maintenance management. By identifying and analyzing different distress types and their probability of occurrence, road authorities can develop targeted maintenance strategies that address specific issues and prolong the...

As with datasets in many fields, pavement management systems suffer from missing data, but machine learning techniques such as random forest analysis make imputation a viable solution. This study applied missForest, one implementation of random forest, to impute missing international roughness index (IRI), structural number (SN), and pavement condi...

Highways play a vital role in a nation's development. However, due to the focus of road authorities in some countries on the construction of new highways , existing highways are left unattended to. Less severe distresses that develop on these roads after short periods and can be remedied relatively cheaper are left to deteriorate further. This resu...

Road pavements are ideally designed to bear and withstand the expected loads and stresses from projected vehicular traffic. The two main parameters for designing a pavement are traffic loading and bearing capacity of road subgrade. There are other factors that influence the lifespan and resilience of the road pavement like the quality of the materi...

One important aspect of network-level highway management is the rational distribution of the maintenance budget to the necessary assets. However, the decision making underlying budget allocation is often unclear, making it difficult to determine whether the budget is being allocated effectively. Based on the PDCA (plan–do–check–action) approach to...

Question
I have dependent variable with 3 categories. When I performed Chi-square test, it showed association of DV with 9 independent variables (p-value less than 0.05). but when i run ordinal logistic regression on the same data, the p-value is totally different and it just shows 3 significant variables?
how can i interpret these results?
Question
I am doing decision tree analysis as classifier. My dependent variable is continuous and has positive skewness data, i want to convert in to normal distribution and then to convert continuous data into categorical data for analysis. Please i need guidance.
I convert the skewness data into normal distribution by log method but how can i read the converted data and how can i assign the categories to it
