Introduction
Ayman Abdel Tawab is a professor of urban renewal and urban conservation at the Architectural Engineering Department, at Tanta University, in Egypt. He has been awarded his Ph.D. degree from Egypt in 2004. Since then, Dr. Abdel Tawab has been lecturing on subjects, including History and Theories of Architecture, Historic Preservation, and Architectural Design. He has participated to some conferences concerned with urban conservation and has had some publications on the same subject.

1- The main objective of the proposed study is to develop guidelines that can help in improving the preservation works undertaken to earthen heritage in Egypt, particularly the properties designed by Hassan Fathy and Ramses Wissa Wassef, and to allow such properties the chance to qualify for a World Heritage Site status. 2- The proposed study also aims at developing a methodology that can be used to evaluate the level of significance, the authenticity and the integrity of earthen heritage.
