Introduction
I am a mechatronics engineer with a master's in mechanical engineering, specialising in acoustics and its integration with robotics. Currently working as a research assistant (since September 2023) in the acoustics and audio research line of the Human-Environment Research (HER) group, conducting research in ultrasonics and parametric acoustic loudspeakers. I am also taking my PhD in Acoustic Engineering at La Salle – URL.

Parametric acoustic loudspeakers (PAL), also known as parametric acoustic arrays (PAA), are speakers that use ultrasonic waves to generate directive audible sound. They emit an ultrasonic carrier modulated in amplitude by the desired audible signal, and due to non-linear propagation in air, this signal is reproduced in the audible range. Typical ap...

A recently developed technique in acoustic signal processing is the plane wave decomposition of the sound field. It consists of a transform that describes the sound field in relation to a directional domain, the wavenumber (angular) domain. In practical terms, the calculation of this transform consists of solving an inverse and ill-posed problem us...

Abstract:
The measurement of the sound absorption coefficient is an important process for room acoustics, as the results they provide are used by engineers and architects for projects, simulations, specifications and such. In this context, the measured value...
The measurement of the sound absorption coefficient is an important process for room acoustics, as the results they provide are used by engineers and architects for projects, simulations, specifications and such. In this context, the measured values must be coherent with the behaviour displayed by the material in real application conditions. The cu...
Plane-wave decomposition is a recently developed technique in the field of acoustics that stems from an approximation in the inverse spatial tri-dimensional Fourier transform so that it considers that the sound field is represented by the superposition of plane waves traveling in well-defined directions. The calculations for the technique involve t...

With advances in signal processing technology and processing power of personal computers, new methods have been developed in the area of room acoustics. Using a robotic arm to hold a microphone during measurements, a virtual automated microphone array can be formed, as an alternative to rigid arrays. This type of system can be used for measuring im...
Several acoustic measurement procedures are elaborated under the assumption that they happen inside an ideally diffuse sound field. However, the definition of diffuseness may vary between standards for different applications. Also, there has been discussion on the means to verify the degree of diffusion, on the hindrances to generate such field and...

With advancements in signal processing technology and in the computational capabilities of equipment, new technologies can be implemented in the analysis of room acoustics. Using a robotic arm to position a microphone in the space, a virtual automated microphone array can be formed more flexibly than a rigid array. The application of this type of a...
