Introduction
Master of Science in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences minored in Sports Education and Training by the University of the Basque Country.
Interested in complexity, pedagogy and sport science.
Currently, I am working to innovate and develop intervention programmes to meet the needs expressed in the field of team sports and to apply knowledge in a practical way to provide team sports coaches with reliable methods for improving training while enhancing the player learning process.

This study compared young female soccer players’ tactical, conditional, and emotional responses during two small-sided games (SSGs), without restrictions (SSGfree), and introducing an additional rule (SSGrelationship: if a player touches an opponent just before she receives the ball, her team wins the ball back with an indirect free kick). Fourteen...
This study evaluated the consequences of repeating the same large-sided games, playing free or conditioned, during several training sessions on young footballers’ tactical and conditional performances and their variabilities. Thirty-two U14 and U16 developmental male footballers participated in the study. Both teams, divided into two balanced group...
Background: Football task design lies in manipulating the relevant features of the game considering the consequences these modifications can have on players' performance. Adding an extra ball may boost academy footballers' possibilities of interaction and challenge them to readjust their motor conduct according to the uncertainty of a novel game sc...
INTRODUCTION: In recent years, the physical requirements of female football matches have increased along with a change in the injury profile of the players (1-3). However, it is uncertain whether the physical performance and functional injury risk assessment profile of the players has evolved parallel to these changes. Therefore, the aim of this st...
Although differential rating of perceived exertion (RPE) scales have been supported in quantifying internal load across various sports, their application in basketball remains to be comprehensively investigated. Consequently , we aimed to: (1) quantify and compare session-and weekly-RPE loads using global and differential RPE scales; and (2) compar...
Neska-mutilen arteko harreman sozialak eraikitzeko portua izateaz gain, tokian tokiko joko-jolas tradizionalak emozioak identifikatu eta kudeatzen ikasteko, kultura-ondarearen parte diren jarduera hauek ezagutu eta hauetaz gozatzeko, eta ikasleen erabakimen motorra garatzeko tresna aproposak omen dira. Hau horrela, ikerkuntza honen helburuak Lehen...
Playing traditional motor games implies making decisions, establishing social relationships with the rest of the players, and experiencing an effervescence of emotions. When children play these games, they develop fully as human beings in all their dimensions. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the relational, emotional, tactical, and conditional di...
Designing training scenarios with greater complexity by changing the possibilities of (inter)action required during competition may challenge footballers to search for different task solutions. This study evaluated young footballers' tactical and conditional responses during a new and complex large-sided game. Nineteen U12 players (age: 12.1 ± 0.30...
This study aims to compare tactical, conditional, and emotional responses of young female soccer players with two small-sided games (SSG) conditions – with and without field obstacles. Twelve Spanish under-12 female soccer players (age: 12.5 ± 0.7 years) played two different 6-a-side SSGs (i.e. 5 vs 5 plus goalkeepers): one with field obstacles (SS...
Women’s football academy players spent the greatest proportion of their training time, almost 40%, performing SSGs (1). Coaches use to implement non-constrained SSGs known as free play at the end of the sessions to enhance players’ decision-making and confront them with competitive physical demands. Although being a daily-employed training task fro...
Since the structural traits of training tasks constrain young football players’ motor behaviour, coaches manipulate them habitually to elicit players’ functionality in challenging training scenarios such as SSGs with pitch obstacles. However, research examining the effects of task constraints on players’ motor behaviour in women’s football is lacki...
This study assessed the effects of playing freely and introducing artificial rules on individual tactical behaviour during the team-possession game phase in two youth soccer categories. Thirty-two developmental players from U-14 and U-16 teams participated in the study, which consisted of four identical training sessions and two test sessions perfo...
Team-lines structures are particular subsystems determined strategically by the formation chosen by the team coach, and despite its relevance, no study has analyzed training effects on tactical behavior based on team lines. This study aimed to assess the effects of modified games playing freely and introducing artificial rules on tactical behavior...
This study aimed to assess the socio-motor interactions and the perceived enjoyment and competence levels of young players during a game of tag. 21 players under 13s from two different teams of the same football club (subgroup-A and subgroup-B) played a new modified version of the game of tag for ten minutes. The motor relationships were analysed r...
Many tag games present unstable motor communications between players, that is, the motor communication varies during the play due to role-changing. A holistic point of view provides a more complete assessment of the experience of the players during the traditional tag games. Thus, the aims of the study were to propose and use a specific guide to as...
The use of technology within sport is well established, most professional sport teams engage with the use of Electronic Performance and Tracking Systems. This book is the first to offer a dep and structured examination of these technologies and how they are used in a team sport setting.
The Use of Applied Technology in Team Sport describes and ass...
The aim of this study was to look into the alleged impact of the physical fitness performance of elite junior soccer players on the professional career according to playing position. The physical tests (sprint test, countermovement jump [CMJ], and maximal aerobic speed [MAS]) performed by 165 players enrolled in the junior team of a Spanish 1st Div...
Background and purpose: Historically, sports training methodology, including soccer coaching, has been influenced by the pedagogic tend dominant in each epoch. Of late, the literature has espoused the idea that human learning is individual, nonlinear, and complex. Nonlinear Pedagogy (NLP) takes into account such nonlinearity and complex phenomena a...
Motor behavior assessment during games could help physical education teachers and team coaches to design effective and efficient motor interventions. This study aimed to assess the variability of the physical and behavioral responses during continued practice of the game tail tag with a ball. Sixteen Spanish youth soccer players from an under-14 te...
Introduction: Several studies have found the effectiveness of the FIFA 11+ warm-up to reduce injury rates in soccer. However, few studies have quantified the physical-physiological responses of young soccer players during this type of warm-up. Objective: The aim was to compare the internal/external load induced by the same warm-up program (FIFA 11+...
Introduction: The assessment of the consequences due to the practice of the same motor games would facilitate the periodization of learning strategies. Objective: This study aimed to assess the consequences due to the continued practice of the tail tag game in the behavioral and physical dimensions of youth players. Method: Sixteen youth soccer pla...
The aims of this study were to describe the evolution of the anthropometric profile of soccer players over a decade and to compare the anthropometric profiles of players promoted from an elite reserve team to high-level soccer with those players who were not promoted. We examined the body mass, height, body-mass index, and body fat of 98 players en...
