Introduction
Currently I am working on a book on coaching. Many social scientists are dilligently working to create theories and definition of coaching., speculating its origins from various sources. As a coach I claim that responses will come from the practioners for a simple reason: coaching is a method to help people and not a psychological phenomenon as for example fear, anxiety etc.

Coaching ist wirksam, weil die Lösungen allein vom Klienten erarbeitet werden. Das klingt einfach, aber der schwierige Teil des Ganzen ist: Wie? Wir nutzen diese Fähigkeit ständig...

Coaching is effective because the solutions are created solely by the client. That sounds simple but the difficult part of the equation is how? Human beings are uniquely gifted with an ability to think about their own thinking and learning which is called metacognition. We constantly use this faculty in self-talk such as "How can I think like this"...

Learning coaching in an institute and then practising it is the accepted best practice for most coaches who offer coaching services. There is a deficit in such a method: how can I as a coach ever know its efficacy in the business or even a personal environment unless I have some measuring mechanism in place. Alongside 35 years of leadership experie...

My 5 years’ experience of professional coaching has shown me that executive coaching is a knowledge-based skill and nothing short of that. For coaching to be effective, along with appropriate coaching training, a coach requires life experience and also formal knowledge of a few subjects. This consideration stems from the fact, often overlooked, tha...

The consequence of the misconceptions and ambiguities in coaching can lead to a natural question: who needs a coach? Staying true to my competencies of leadership and intercultural communication I have selected to discuss three areas where I have clear evidence, based on my coaching experience of 5 years with C-level executives, managers and privat...

Besides the 123 interviews with decision makers: CEOs, managers, coaches and entrepreneurs, and my coaching experience with 165 clients over 5 years, to validate my claims in this book I chose to participate in various coaching courses. I did this to determine what different institutes and schools call coaching and to evaluate their effectiveness....

‘No one knows where coaching comes from’, at best it is said that ‘it comes from sports’. Other common criticisms that coaching encounters is that ‘anybody can become a coach with a short training of three days’. The ambiguity caused by such misconceptions is evident in the various attributes coaches, non-coaches, and researchers, attach to coachin...

A client, before beginning coaching with me, asked me an interesting question: ‘what if you are unable to create a rapport with me?’ In coaching, the ability of a coach stems from the method followed: it is not left to chance to allow any place for a ‘what if’ question. If a coach follows a methodical procedure then there is no question that he can...

For people who are seeking to make changes in certain areas of their present situation, in a professional or personal environment, a promise of a change or even sustainable change can sound tempting, if not trigger some hope of betterment to their situation. Based on such assumptions, I believe, often, many coaches and coaching institutes offer unc...

This book presents an evidence-based discussion of two critical areas that are gaining importance in the business world and personal development alike: namely, coaching and being a coach. Does coaching work? If so, then for whom does it add value and what is it really all about? Today, just about everybody in personal services seems to have become...

There is a lot of confusion around coaching. What is the cause of confusion about coaching and the profession of a coach in Germany? The downside to the confusion is that it is also creating hesitancy in people looking for help so that potential clients feel unable to approach this helping profession with confidence that they can choose the right c...
