Introduction
I am a Postdoctoral researcher specializing in aquatic microbiology and the ecology of microbial eukaryotes. Currently, I am contributing to a new paleoecology project (PACTE, ISblue) at UBO (IUEM, Geo-Ocean), exploring the evolution of eukaryotic communities along the Brittany coast and their responses to hydrological disturbances driven by human activities and climatic changes over the past century.

Background Microbial eukaryotes play a crucial role in biochemical cycles and aquatic trophic food webs. Their taxonomic and functional diversity are increasingly well described due to recent advances in sequencing technologies. However, the vast amount of data produced by -omics approaches require data-driven methodologies to make predictions abou...

The ongoing discussion regarding the use of mixed or pure cultures of hydrogenotrophic methanogenic archaea in Power-to-Methane (P2M) bioprocess applications persists, with each option presenting its own advantages and disadvantages. To address this issue, a comparison of methane (CH4) yield between a novel methanogenic archaeon belonging to the sp...

The permanently anoxic waters in meromictic lakes create suitable niches for the growth of bacteria using sulphur metabolisms like sulphur oxidation. In Lake Pavin, the anoxic water mass hosts an active cryptic sulphur cycle that interacts narrowly with iron cycling, however the metabolisms of the microorganisms involved are poorly known. Here we c...

Over the last few decades, our understanding of microbial diversity in the environment has advanced considerably, particularly with the advent of next-generation sequencing methods and -omics approaches. These methods have allowed for a more comprehensive evaluation of microbial diversity compared to traditional culture-based approaches. The most c...
Article
The advent of high‐throughput sequencing has led to the discovery of a considerable diversity of microbial eukaryotes in aquatic ecosystems, nevertheless, their function and contribution to the trophic food web functioning remain poorly characterized especially in freshwater ecosystems. Based on metabarcoding data obtained from a meromictic lake ec...

While invisible to the naked eye, microorganisms are crucial components of the Earth’s ecosystem, underpinning all biogeochemical cycles and supporting the existence of higher trophic life forms. Among microorganisms, our knowledge about microbial eukaryotes is poor compared to Bacteria. Moreover, in comparison to marine environments, freshwater ec...

Microsporidia are a large group of obligate intracellular eukaryotic parasites related to fungi primarily known as parasites of vertebrates and invertebrates. They are well described as parasites of organisms of interest (e.g., edible fish and crustaceans, honeybees, bioindicators such as daphnia, humans) on which they can have an important impact...
Article
Freshwater is a critical resource for human survival but severely threatened by anthropogenic activities and climate change. These changes strongly impact the abundance and diversity of the microbial communities which are key players in the functioning of these aquatic ecosystems. Although widely documented since the emergence of high‐throughput se...

Microsporidia are a large group of obligate intracellular eukaryotic parasites. Recent studies suggest that their diversity can be huge in freshwater lake ecosystems especially in the < 150-µm size fraction. However, little is known about their hosts and therefore their impact on the trophic food web functioning. In this study, single cell analysis...
