Project 1 is one of the component projects of the ITPS Center, an accelerated R&D Program for Capacity Building of Research and Development Institutions and Industrial Competitiveness within the framework of the Niche Centers in the Regions for R & D (NICER) Program funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and monitored by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD). Project 1 developed an integrated online geo-database of ITPs in Caraga Region using RS and GIS technologies. Specifically, it mapped the species types, location and extent of ITPs in the region using airborne (drones/UAS) and satellite remote sensing images; developed an online/web-based GIS database of ITP types, location and extent integrated with other spatial and non-spatial datasets; determined areas suitable for establishing new ITPs; and conducted accessibility and efficiency analysis of log production flow from source to processing plants to its marketers and distributors.
