•Funding for renewables has been cut across Europe in the years since the financial crisis.•Crowdfunding models share a societal ethos with proponents of investment in renewables.•Positive attitudes are shown to be widespread regarding crowdfunding's potential to support renewables.•The evidence suggests that both emotional and pragmatic (experient...
Indonesia has abundant natural gas resources, however the primary fuel used for electricity generation is coal and oil. Insufficient natural gas infrastructure with-in the country acts as a barrier to increased natural gas usage. In Indonesia LNG is the most efficient and effective method for distributing natural gas given the difficult geographica...
This eBook stems from the work, events and results carried out during the CrowdFundRES project and available on www.crowdfundres.eu. In particular, this document collects insights from the following project results: guidelines for crowdfunding platforms, guidelines for project developers, guidelines for investors and the report on policy recommenda...
Indonesia became an oil importer for the first time in 2003 and will face the excess of natural gas demand compared to supply by 2019. The reason of declining supply of oil and gas is the lack of exploration. The low exploration activity in Indonesia was started after the Indonesian Legislation 22/2001 just was launched. In January 2017, Minister o...

The current state of LCOE analysis and its application to offshore wind energy generation has
been reviewed and a critique provided of The Crown Estate’s (TCE) and other relevant LCOE
models. Colleagues in the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult Centre helped shape the
review.
The existing LCOE model used by The Crown Estate, and six other relevant and available
LCOE models are reviewed and critiqued and a literature review of LCOE methodology was conducted, with emphasis on renewable energy generation, particularly offshore wind and marine energy. Stakeholders from within the JIAP, in particular the Offshore Renewable E...
We are currently seeing a deceleration of renewable energy growth in Europe. This is partly attributed to the challenges for financing renewable energy projects. Reduced access to conventional financing options over the past few years has triggered innovative financing schemes to emerge, with crowdfunding attracting a lot of attention. The project...
Crowdfunding platforms have proven they have the ability to attract investment funds for renewable energy projects and energy companies. Relative to traditional financing sources, crowdfunding can provide funds in a timely manner, reflecting reduced bureaucracy and regulatory complexity. Crowdfunding can often help for small-scale renewable project...
The report presents the findings of an online survey conducted over Spring and Summer 2016 at the European level regarding characteristics of economic agent decision making in the crowdfunding marketplace for renewable energy projects.
This report presents the findings of three online surveys conducted in the second half of 2015 at the
European level regarding perceptions about crowdfunding in the renewables sector. The surveys form part of the CrowdFundRES project which aims to help unleash the potential of crowdfunding for renewable energy projects and is funded by the European...

Peak gas is just one more expression of the concern society has over the use and overdependence on a finite resource to sustain economic activities. It is closely tied to the debate over peak oil and peak minerals, as discussed in Chapters 9 and 11. The peak gas thesis proposes that some finite amount of gas is technically recoverable in the world...
This report is concerned with the application of cost-benefit analysis to issues of renewable energy development. We focus on experience in Scotland, a country which has experienced very rapid increases in new renewables capacity in recent years, and which has set world-leading targets for renewable energy as part of climate change and economic dev...
This paper presents a novel approach of applying stated preference methods in the field of labour economics. Differences in behaviour and labour market disadvantage are connected to the presence, and ages of children, the so-called ‘family gap’. There are major difficulties in collecting accurate information about the recruiting practices of employ...
This paper presents a novel approach of applying stated preference methods in the field of labour economics. Differences in behaviour and labour market disadvantage are connected to the presence, and ages of children, the so-called „family gap‟. Development of renewable energy resources, such as wind farms and hydro-electric schemes, are being promoted as a new method of expanding and diversifying employment in rural areas. However, such energy projects are associated with a range of environmental impacts which might be detrimental to other economic activities, such as those based on natur...
In this paper, we investigate whether people's knowledge of the past influences their preferences and values towards future landscape change. “Knowledge of the past” is one aspect of the information set held by individuals, and a well-established finding in economics is that changes in information can change preferences and values. The particular a...
In today's global economy, assessing costs of compliance is crucial to understand how environmental regulations influence firms' behaviour and in particular their ability to compete at an international level. A three step methodology is used to conduct a comparison of Scotland's industry with the international community. The first step compares env...
A feasibility study conducted by Puget Sound Tidal Power LLC for Tacoma Power, Tacoma Public Utilities, City of Tacoma, Washington.
Investments in renewable energy, such as new wind farms and hydro schemes, are being promoted as a new means of diversifying rural employment in Scotland*. However, such investments are associated with a range of environmental impacts which might be detrimental to other economic activities, such as those based on nature tourism. When designing poli...
Increasing the proportion of power derived from renewable energy sources is becoming an increasingly important part of many countries's strategies to achieve reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. However, renewable energy investments can often have external costs and benefits, which need to be taken into account if socially optimal investments ar...
The Water Framework Directive (WFD) sets targets of "Good Ecological Status" for water bodies across th e EU. Environmental regulatory authorities must undertake economic analysis of all waterbodies as part of the process of drawing up catchment management plans. In this paper, we test the transferability of benefit estimates across the kinds of sm...
This paper estimates the magnitude of the external costs and benefits of renewable energy technologies in Scotland, a country that has set particularly ambitious targets for expanding renewable energy. The external effects considered are those on landscape quality, wildlife and air quality, whilst employment impacts are included as a fourth attribu...

I have data for a choice experiment about investing in socially responsible projects. The investment characteristics were presented on choice cards that asked for the most preferred option and the least preferred option. I am looking for literature that presents both most preferred and least preferred analysis.
I am researching how RE systems can be financially sustainable once deployed without further reliance on government or donor money. This is in the context of rural developing countries for small and micro-grid systems.
I am starting research on the costs and benefits of small to micro-grid scale renewables electrification in off-gird rural regions of developing countries, in particular Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.
