Three different calendars coexist in contemporary Morocco: Gregorian, Muslim and Agrarian. Each governs ritual times, feast days, events and daily life activities. The coexistence of these calendars both layers and juxtaposes measures of time. Time and temporality offer a unique entry point for understanding various aspects of the Moroccan lifecycl...

We present our experiences with a series of ‘forgotten groups’ that empower themselves through outreach activities. The authors coordinate or advise different activities, but the protagonists and promoters are those people, the ‘forgotten groups’. This work includes a description of objectives, methods and practices when coordinating inclusive outr...

The twenty-first century has been marked strongly with two extremely significant developments, firstly the increase in international terror attacks and secondly the evolution of media and information consumption based on technological advancements. These phenomena together have led to the figurative and literal blowing up of mass media coverage, bu...

This paper analyses the linguistic diversity among the Berberophones in northern Morocco in the period of the Spanish Protectorate in Morocco (1912–1956). To do this, I focus on the documentary materials kept in digital archives, which allow us to go deeper into the knowledge of how Spaniards may have shown interest in Berberophony. In particular,...

Islam is often presented as a strongly anthropocentric religion. Anthropomorphism, in the case of God and animals as well, has been and still is at the heart of many theological debates. In many fables which are transmitted orally by both Arabophone and Berberophone speakers in the mountains of Jbala and Ghomara (Northern Morocco), animals are able...
