Introduction
My field of expertise is the dynamic interplay between governments and markets, and how the demand side can be leveraged to trigger and steer innovation. This particularly relates to innovation procurement. I enjoy crossing the boundary between academic research and on-the-ground practice, developing decision-support methodologies for complex problems. Connecting theory and practice in this way serves as a driver to improving public procurement processes and outcomes, and informs policy measures

Green Public Procurement (GPP) is defined as purchasing which reduces environmental impacts across product or service life cycles. Standardization, as another demand-side measure, complements GPP by shaping standards, which when strategically applied in tenders can drive market demand for environmental products and services and stimulate eco-innova...

Public procurement plays a vital role in stimulating sustainable and inclusive European growth through innovation. Moving beyond primary goals of service improvement and cost reduction, innovation procurement practices of public agencies can pursue secondary goals such as innovation and sustainability. However, an increased focus on core competence...

Life cycle assessment (LCA) of greenhouse gas emissions is often used to compare products in the global crude market. While Alberta's oil sands face particular pressure to improve performance, a lack of consensus on methods, data, and assumptions specific to the LCA of products derived from crude oil weaken such comparisons. This paper investigates...
